Land Shark

On a Balmy summer afternoon in Jamaica, NY we received a call for a diff breather. Little did we know what horrors awaited us. As we entered the fairly typical house we observed an elderly woman sitting comfortably at a table with her friends. I approached the woman and asked, “Why did you call us today?” She answered me seriously “I was swallowed by a shark.” You could imagine my surprise.

Then she said “But he expelled me.” Now that made more sense because if he had not expelled her she would not be talking to me in her house. With that mystery solved we moved on. She asked me if I had taken a picture of the attacking shark. I asked her if she could describe the shark or tell what type of shark it was. She said she could not because it had attacked her from behind. I began to ask her friends if this behavior was normal for her. They assured me it was not.

They gave us the number of the woman’s daughter. I explained the situation to her and she responded, “Not again” She told me that this sort of thing happens occasionally and asked me if I would have to take her to the hospital. I told her that due to her mother’s age I would have to call the doctor to get permission and once I told him that the woman claims to have been swallowed by a shark I think he would want her to talk to someone. The daughter agreed and the mother very politely walked to the ambulance and off we went to the hospital.

Some may laugh but since that day we always roll up our windows when we pass that house.
